Right to Asylum

The European shores have become a destination. The European shores have become saviors for many. What has made these shores of Greece, Italy and borders of Hungary and Serbia look attractive? How did these countries graduate to become source of refuge to hundreds of thousands of people? Plenty of people are being smuggled from countries of Middle East and North Africa (MENA). These people want to be smuggled across the dangerous seas to Europe. They have to escape the strife of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries. What is the feature and characteristics of people in Middle East and North Africa? Why couldn’t they prepare their territories to become stable and steady? What is the source of violence in MENA (Middle East and North Africa) countries? There has been offence on the citizens of MENA. That is why they are ready to run away to Europe. This raises a big question. What is it that the Europeans did correct so that the European countries seem to be free from struggle and starvation?
Mankind has witnessed much strife and struggle in history. Natural calamities, religious crusades, economic needs or even political expansions have all contributed to calamities for humanity. But today is the age of millennials. This generation is exposed to digitalized technology. The social media has made information and insights, accessible to all. Civilizations can become armed and equipped to evolve at a faster pace. Formula and the ingredients of tranquility and harmony is available to all people. Yet why the human race is unable to bring forth the needed peaceful coexistence?
Theology of the MENA countries insists that its citizens must have refuge only in the divine factor. Their ideologies disallows any sense of attitude of humility to other providers. Their claim is that submission of gratitude should be limited to theocratic messages. Consider the ideology and characteristics of European concepts. The host seem to be bestowed with more capacity to slog. The slog at work of the host has made him capable to harness immense resources. The European workers has accumulated comforts and conveniences through hard work and labor. Few European countries has not aligned to the concept of becoming deserving due to output, performance and productivity. Obviously these countries has severe economic burdens and debt traps. But it is the same case with Governments. Those governments that did not encourage their citizens to become enterprising and sincere at their workplace, are now seeing an exodus of their citizens.
It is a sad phenomenon to note that people are willing to be smuggled away from homelands in search of safety for their property and security for their family. If these people would have worked to make changes in the way that they are governed, then they may not plan to flee the homeland. The theology in MENA countries puts great emphasis on rules, law and other legal systems. It is a theology founded on punishment to those who violate the diktat, from a book. By this logic the successful European countries may have processes and procedures by which to do intake of unplanned visitors. It may not be polite to the cause of dignity to call somebody as refugee. They are people who has a temporary need due to helplessness. These people are victims and are compelled to arrive at foreign shores. But yet the host countries also can be justified in their stance to resist unapproved arrivals on their borders.
Many MENA countries and neighboring Arab nations has the land and the resources to play host to these unfortunate citizens of MENA. The countries that share their language ideology, way of living, common history and even theology are rich and oil exporting nations. There is no reason to believe that the oil exporting Arab countries are unable to give solace, food aid, shelter relief and refugee status in their respective desert nations. Therefore it will always remain an intrigue, why these imbalance of resources are encouraged though they are all compelled to take refuge in the same divinity.
These people who are escaping from the carnage of war from Syria, Libya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan and other nations must express their capability to trade their skills and talents and work to companies and governments in oil exporting countries. The oil exporting Arab countries must proactively express their kindness and mercy by welcoming these hundreds of thousands of women and children and other gullible men from the MENA nations.
Intangible words or morals and ethics can be debated. All discussions can rise up even to the level of conscience of nations. But yet the fact will remain that where these people conveyed their allegiance and loyalty. It is in that place that their refuge has been denied. Even the people’s right to asylum is not considered by oil exporting Arab nations.
There is a need to peg guilt at somebody else. Therefore it will become a social need to discover a new villain for the trauma of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) world. Then the MENA world will have to peg accountability at somebody. For this they have to generate a narrative that will demonize the functional democracies and successful nations.
An emotional response is what we can pray for. But the attitude of prayer has tenderness and modesty. Is it appropriate to request the host nations to bestow mercy on the people who are in effect, victim of human traffickers from their own nations? One cannot take kindly to those who are responsible for people to fall off the boat and die in the seas.
We need a collective solution. The MENA nations must discuss on a long term plan. They must condemn all wars and destruction. The European nations are afraid of the future where the migrant population, brings an ethnical change in their demography. Perhaps the political answers are not capable of solving the theological emotions. It will do well for all subscribers of this ideology to go to the source of such stand offs between communities and countries. All knows that military solutions can be used only when all else has failed. Diplomacy, education, theology and sociology has all a place in establishing humanism in legal behavior. Anything which becomes unrelenting has a potential to knock out one set of people of the human race. I certainly recommend that the concern should be converted from a refugee issue to a people problem. All dignity and respect must be given to the vulnerable people who are seeking shelter, food, medicines, clothing and other basic necessities. Their profiling and processing must be done with utmost sincerity. Much concern and attention must be accorded to the sensitivities of the sentiments of these people.
In return, the people who are newly profiled and processed can show gratitude and humility. They can then choose to express their ability to integrate to new work culture. They can upgrade their status as immigrant workers. And when they are seen as contributors to local economy and resource building then the host countries will be justified to do the necessary for naturalizing and conferring citizenship. Most of the immigrant worldwide has a proven track record of revenue generation for the country through enterprise and talent of trade. Worldwide, the immigrant population has ensured the upward mobility of the social classes, careers, cultural indices and even sport. When the equations are set right then the merger of minds will become a possibility. All great nations must be founded on values of multi culture multi-racial and human values. The violent confrontation and demand for right can be compromised. A prayer for sharing and caring, to host nations will discount the rigidity in the stance and stand offs. After all, the planet does belong to all inhabitants.
